Dwana Back-Lamberson
she/her

Dwana strives to effectively use her energy, time, and talents in advocating for those who are marginalized or excluded to have the tools and resources they need to reach their full potential. She says, “I joined Community Solutions because this team empowers and supports the work of so many amazing organizations that are truly doing good in the world.”

Dwana is a Senior Associate who contributes to several projects on the Community Solutions team.

Dwana has experience in nonprofit program and project management, grant writing and reporting, standardized testing, and data collection. In several of her previous roles she worked to create inclusion and access for individuals with disabilities. This work led her to become passionate about the value of diversity and the importance of creating welcoming spaces where differences are not only accepted but celebrated.

She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Ball State University, with an emphasis on Vocational Rehabilitation for persons with disabilities.  She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, and a graduate of the inaugural Leadership Academy of the Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities.

Why are you passionate about what you do at Community Solutions?

I believe in the importance of equity, inclusion, and belonging for all.  We need a big enough table for everyone to have a place and feel welcome.

What inspires you?

Stimulating conversation, a good book, and sitting near a large body of water.

If you could offer advice to a younger version of yourself, what would you say?

Most of what you think is important, and most of what you think you know now, is going to change.  Hold tightly to your core values and don’t ever compromise, but hold your specific beliefs and opinions more loosely – always be open to being proven wrong.
